Merry Christmas Camarillo. Christmas Truck

Have you seen this truck around town? I am talking about the 1968 Dodge, Baby Blue Christmas Truck.

I know, I know, you probably know this truck better as the surfer truck; however, every December my husband shows some of his Christmas spirit through his beloved truck.

Our avid surfer dude decks the bed and hood of his truck with lights and sleigh bells and brings joy and laughter to those he happens to pass by.

Christmas Carolers

 

This year we bundled up and rode in his merry sleigh around town to spread the joy of Christmas by caroling. As we rode from neighborhood to neighborhoods we picked up more friends/carolers.

Camarillo's residents especially residents of Gemini Street were the most gracious to welcome us with candy canes and hot apple ciders, thanks to you all.

 

Merry Christmas to you and yours. If you missed us, we hope to see you next year as we sing joyous Christmas songs.

 

Camarillo’s new affordable housing complex

According to the 2007 UCSB Economic Forecast Indicator, Ventura County's Median Household income is at $77,400 and Ventura County Housing Affordability is estimated at 14%.

Upon studying these factors, Camarillo city officials determined that their city is in desperate need of affordable housing

In January 2008, the apartment complex that is under construction on the corner of Ponderosa and Calle La Roda, consisting of 13 units of 2-3 bedroom apartments, will be the newest development in Camarillo to house families eligible for low-income housing.

The units are owned by the Ventura County Area Housing Authorities. The City of Camarillo has also financially helped to make these low-income housing units in Camarillo a possibility.

A Different Perspective on Life

I am surrounded by a group of wonderful friends. We are very close and since our children are about the same age, we participate in a lot of family activities together. I love my friends and enjoy the way we take care of each other and those who might need our help.

Yesterday I received this email from one of my friends. It seems such an appropriate piece for this time of the year that I thought I should share it with my cyber friends.

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of Farmshowing him how poor people live.  They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.


On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
  "It was great, Dad."
  "Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
  "Oh yeah," said the son.
 "So, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.


 The son answered


Dogs and Kids"I saw that we have one dog and they had four."

"We have a pool  that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creekcreek that has no end."

 

 

 

 

 

 "We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night."

  

Horizon"Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon."

 

 "We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight."Fields

  

   

 

 

"We have servants who serve us, but theyGroup Of Friends serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."

Then his son added,  "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."


The boy's father was speechless. 
Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.
