Camarillo Real Estate, Camarillo Heights Home, a Sad Story

East Loop fireAs I write this post one of Camarillo Heights' landmarks is fighting to hold up against the fire that engulfed this fascinating house about an hour ago.

It is too early to know what caused this horrific fire, but whatever the cause it is a fire that destroyed this house to the ground. Fortunately the homeowner was not home at the time, but it took us a long time to find that out.

Almost everyone that lives in Camarillo or has been to our home knows about this house. We all refer to it as the "statue house". The lady who owns this "statue house" is a clay sculptor and you could see her work all over the exterior of her house. Basically this corner of Camarillo Heights resembled a Roman or a Greek palace.

I can still hear the Ventura County helicopter circulate our neighborhood and I can still see the stream of water the firefighters are using to put out this monster. There are ten fire trucks present at a moment and the main streets around us are blocked (only the homeowners are allowed to drive up). My cell phone is ringing non stop (concerned family members, friends, and neighbors at work). I feel guilty for saying this, but we are so lucky that the wind is blowing away from our homes because there is only a house between us and this engulfed home.

All in all this has been a heartbreaking incident for our neighborhood but, it is at times like this that you come to appreciate your neighbors, the quick response of the fire and police department of your town, and the love for each other in the area you have chosen to call "Home".

These are the pictures I was able to take.

Please Read If You Don't Want Your Cell Phone To Start Ringing For The Wrong Reason

Very Important Reminder

12 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS.

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS. It take about 20 seconds.

Kimberly Grant has just notified me that this is just a hoax. However, it would be safe to add your cell phone number to this list to stop all marketing calls for good.

Does the Price of Petroleum Have Anything to Do with The Price of Homes?

Building materialsYesterday, Tuesday June 19th, my husband, and I, and our two little girls were shopping at Home Depot in Camarillo, CA. Actually I have to rephrase that, my husband was shopping and my daughters and I were just messing around. As we were passing through the isles I overheard many of the shoppers complain about the price increases in many building materials and that got me thinking...

As we are all painfully aware, the price of oil has sky-rocketed in the past several years. With price increases in petroleum throughout the country, all materials that are derived from petroleum have been effected including some building materials.

So now do you see the domino effect? The high price of petroleum increases the price of building materials and Oil Field
therefore, the newly constructed homes are outrageously priced. The rest of the real estate market has to keep up with these newly constructed homes and hence the increase in prices through out the market.

I know this is not the only factor that affects the price increase or decrease in our housing market, but it seems to me to be one of the factors that has been overlooked.
