Please Read If You Don't Want Your Cell Phone To Start Ringing For The Wrong Reason

Very Important Reminder

12 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS.

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS. It take about 20 seconds.

Kimberly Grant has just notified me that this is just a hoax. However, it would be safe to add your cell phone number to this list to stop all marketing calls for good.

Comments

Just added my phone number.

Thanks

Hi Mana,

I actually blogged about this the other day.  The information about this calling this phone number to register cell phone numbers is not valid according to the FTC and Do Not Call List website.  I found their release about the email and information that is going around surrounding it.  Here it is:  cell phone email rumors.

This story is a hoax - according to http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.asp this is an urban legend and will not happen.

It won't hurt to add your phone, but it's not necessary.  According to the website, it's all tied to the major cellphone companies trying to band together and start a nationwide, comprehensive directory service for cellphone users.  It will be strictly voluntary and customers must opt into the program.  In other words, your cell number will not be listed unless you ask it to be.

Like I said, it won't hurt, but it's not necessary.

Thanks for clarifying this information Kimberly.  My cell phone bill is high enough and I started to hyperventalate, lol.    I've taken a deep and am better now.  I would think that if and when this takes place that our cell phone carriers would be required to notifiy us.

Thanks Kimberly however, I have been getting calls from pre-recorded massages inviting me to attend their conferences and blah blah blah. So hopefully buy adding my cell number to the DNCL I can stop these phone calls.

I have added our cell phones to the national do not call registry online.  https://www.donotcall.gov/Register/Reg.aspx

I went to the website just in case and did it that way.  I have gotten sales calls on my cell phone already, so I need to do something!

Mana - this is good advice no matter what - who wants to pay for telemarketing calls much less be disturbed.

I do hate those tele-marketers and I am amazed even being on the do-not call list how often they still call me.
