Ventura County Leads the Way in Green Waste Recycling
The California Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989, states that each county in the State of California must divert 50% of its waste away from landfills by the year 2000. Since then, Ventura County has taken a stand to help improve the California environment in many different ways.
The process that makes Ventura County noticeably different from other California Counties is our extensive
Green Waste Recycling. As one of California's leading agricultural counties, the green waste recycling program is set up in a way that all of the green waste that Ventura County residents and Ventura County businesses deposit in their yard waste bins is processed and returned to the agricultural soils. Given that much of California's waste is organic material, this plan helps our county to meet the Integrated Waste Management Act requirements. Meaning the landfills get less packed, our farm lands see the benefit, and something positive is done for the Ventura County environment.

Our city/county started that and all of a sudden went dead. They're supposed to revive it again.
Stephanie, I think we are.
Joanne, You are welcome.
Irina, I am?!!!! OH My Gosh!!!!LOL
Mana - I miss my green trash can we had in California and Arizona. No such thing here in Indiana. Can you imagine they have "trash trucks" with men riding on the back, who pick up the bags......
Back Home in Indiana:)
Mana,
Our local city recycles yard waste into wood chip mulch and compost - glad to hear Ventura County is keeping this material out of the landfill.
Paula, Ouch, I can't imagine not having the green waste trash cans.
Rita; That is great, I guess our cities are doing their job.
Ashley, Thank you.
Thesa, We all have to do something to help, and recycling green waste is one way
Mana, excellent job at protecting Venturas enviroment!!!
Teri, No driving here, just roll the trash cans to the front lawn on pick up days.
Chris, Thank you.
Mana - thanks for sharing what Ventura County is doing to create a more Eco-friendly place to live.
Mana - We don't have any green recycling here! Just recently were were given larger cans for the regular recyclables. Sounds like Ventura County is ahead of the game!
I can't even get the county to supply me with recycle bins! It's CRAZY! I asked for months when I first moved in a few years ago and they told me they weren't doing "recycling" in my neighborhood. NOW...I see everyone with them but ME!
