According to the 2007 UCSB Economic Forecast Indicator, Ventura County's Median Household income is at $77,400 and Ventura County Housing Affordability is estimated at 14%.
Upon studying these factors, Camarillo city officials determined that their city is in desperate need of affordable housing.
In January 2008, the apartment complex that is under construction on the corner of Ponderosa and Calle La Roda, consisting of 13 units of 2-3 bedroom apartments, will be the newest development in Camarillo to house families eligible for low-income housing.
The units are owned by the Ventura County Area Housing Authorities. The City of Camarillo has also financially helped to make these low-income housing units in Camarillo a possibility.

Mana,
Intesting, so in fact the housing authority is actually the landlord-owner of these units? That sort of surprises me. We have some affordable housing here in our community of Brea, but as far as I know they are subsidized by our city and not owned the the city. To my knowldge, most of these are senior units.
Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Missy, $400K is the least expensive house on our market right now and that house either needs a ton of work or is in short sale.
Lynda, I believe in our county the housing authorities own all affordable housing, but I could be wrong. (I should look into that).
Merry Christmas to you as well my dear friend.
